May 2007: Dressing up, Holy Communion
May saw Emily attend her first Holy Communion. Grandma came to visit too. Sarah took a nasty fall and cut her chin.

April 2007: Grandma's surprise birthday
On Saturday the girls threw Grandma a surprise birthday party. Approximately half of Iowa attended!
Naturally, some of the cousins became a bit troublesome towards the end!

April 2007: Easter Eggs at Grandma's
The girls spent Easter at Grandma's house painting eggs. Most of the paint actually made it to the eggs!

March 2007
In March we had one of our trees taken down because it unfortunately had been hit by lightning 18 months earlier and had suffered a slow death since then. Looking on the bright side, the pool now gets more sun, which led to the girls taking a dip before March was over, brrrrr!

March 2007: Udvar-Hazy Center Visit
In March, during Spring Break, we took a day-trip to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, companion facility to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.
It was a terrific day out with lots of exciting things to see and do.

February 2007
February brought Sarah's 11th birthday and some fun dressing up: Sarah for a '50s party at school and Emily as Jane Goodall (complete with very real looking monkey) for her school's wax museum evening.

January 2007
Sarah and Emily received rollerblades for Christmas in 2006, so January 2007 started with lots of exercise, and just a little snow!

Festivals

May was also the month of festivals, first with the famous Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival and later in the month the Grapevine Main Street Days. The girls love seeing all the 16th century costumes and culture. And they just can't resist getting a kiss from a tall cowboy!

May rocks

With May came sunny weather, lush grass and blooming gardens. Susan completed a "little gardening project" comprised mainly of liberally distributing about 7 tons of rocks around our front and back gardens (or "yards" as they call them here in Texas). She did most of this on her own while I kept busy taking photos!
Grandma's April visit

In april Grandma came to visit us and that, of course, resulted in another visit to Cow-Town and, this time, the Cowgirl Museum. The dinosaurs over at the Fort Worth Science Museum were very scary too!
Longhorn cattle drive

The next day we went to Fort Worth to see the longhorn cattle drive the largest train in the world (in Texas) and to play at being cowboys.
Fossil Rim giraffe drool

Later in March we made our (now annual) trip down to Fossil Rim to see the giraffes, emus, ocelots, bison, ostriches, deer, antelope and, the scariest thing of all: Sarah's driving.

January Jiu Jitsu

Sarah and Emily both started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2005.
Sarah has really enjoyed it and has made several new friends while Emily is a little less enthusiastic but still attends once or twice a week.

Shrimpton Family
Hi folks, due to a hastily planned trip to England last week we're a little behind with our Christmas arrangements this year. As a result, we haven't posted our pictures yet.
However, we're now catching up and we should have some new pictures posted here over the next couple of days (by 3rd of January 2005). So please return to the Shrimpton Family blog soon.
Thanks. The Shrimptons.
